If you've been an avid reader of this blog (cookies for you if you are!), you might have known that Sara Wolf's Lovely Vicious series is my favorite contemporary YA series OF ALL TIME. I've mentioned it again and again and promoted the book loads of times and I will do so for eternity. I just love it so much.

So just imagine the glee I'm feeling today as I share to you an interview I had with the author herself, Sara Wolf!!!!!111 HOLD ME

But first, let me introduce the book to you and this series~ Here's my review of the first book! It has great MCs and banter and sass and sarcasm you'd chuckle all the way through and it also delves into sensitive topics. IT JUST HAS IT ALL SERIOUSLY

Forget Me Always

Title: Forget Me Always (Lovely Vicious #2)
Author: Sara Wolf
Publisher: Entangled Teen
Date of Publication: November 1, 2016
All warfare is deception. Even in high school.

It’s been three years, twenty-five weeks, and five days since Isis Blake fell in love, and if she has it her way, it’ll stretch into infinity. Since then, she’s punched Jack Hunter—her nemesis-turned-maybe-something-more—in the face, survived a brutal attack by her mom’s abusive ex thanks to Jack’s heroics, and then promptly forgotten all about him.

The one bright spot for Isis is Sophia, the ephemeral girl who shares Isis’s hospital stay as well as a murky past with Jack. But as Isis’s memories return, she finds it harder and harder to resist what she felt for Jack, and Jack finds it impossible to stay away from the only girl who’s ever melted the ice around his heart.

As the dark secrets surrounding Sophia emerge, Isis realizes Jack isn’t who she thought he was. He’s dangerous. But when Isis starts receiving terrifying emails from an anonymous source, that danger might be the only thing protecting her from something far more threatening.

Her past.

Interview with Sara Wolf

Describe the Lovely Vicious series in 140 characters or less.
Lovely Vicious is a series about a girl who loves to hate, and a boy who hates to love.

If the Lovely Vicious series will be made into a film franchise/TV show, do you have any actors and actresses in mind you'd want to play the roles?
I’d love for someone like Abigail Breslin to play Isis – she’s got the perfect personality. Jack would be MUCH harder to cast, and everyone would have their own opinion on him, but I’d want a very good actor, obviously. He can’t just be pretty! A young River Phoenix was who I had in mind as I wrote him.

What inspired you to write this trilogy?
It’s super simple; I couldn’t find any funny YA books that I liked in the bookstores, so I wrote my own!

What was the greatest challenge you faced in writing the Lovely Vicious series?
There really was no challenge! It was so fun and freeing to write it. Some people don’t like the few poop jokes, but I thrive on that sort of stuff. I’m not so snobby that I won’t use them for comedic value. ;)

How are the re-released versions from Entangled Teen differ from the self-published versions? Which part of the revisions did you enjoy the most?
The versions from Entangled Teen not only have beautiful, professionally-done covers, they also have wonderful typesetting and fonts that are much easier to read than the usual bland Times New Roman I originally had.

Do you listen to music while writing? What songs did you listen to while writing this series or what songs can be its soundtrack?
I listen to a ton of music, mostly very mellow electronic music. I listened to a LOT of Flying Lotus stuff, give them a listen if you haven’t already.

If you like <blank>, you''ll love the Lovely Vicious series. What books, films, or TV shows would fit that sentence perfectly?
Easy A, Mean Girls, anything with black comedy and a good dose of angst.

Who are your favorite authors and/or what are your favorite books?
I’m in love with Terry Pratchett. His Tiffany Aching series is by far my most favorite books in the world.

Lightning round!
Favorite pizza topping/s? Olives and mushrooms!
Favorite ice cream flavor? Pistachio
Celebrity crush (dead or alive)? I’ve got a great big crush on Robert Redford
Eye color? Gray!
Favorite song? Oh! That’s no fair. I have way too many!
Favorite movie? El Orfanto, or The Orphanage. A very good horror movie!

What's next for Sara Wolf?
A dark YA fantasy called BRING ME THEIR HEARTS, about a girl with no heart who’s out to steal the Prince’s. It’s less comedy, but more intrigue, magic, and just as much sass.

About Sara Wolf

Sara Wolf is a twenty-something author who adores baking, screaming at her cats, and screaming at herself while she types hilarious things. When she was a kid, she was too busy eating dirt to write her first terrible book. Twenty years later, she picked up a keyboard and started mashing her fists on it and created the monster known as the Lovely Vicious series. She lives in San Diego with two cats, a crippling-yet-refreshing sense of self-doubt, and not enough fruit tarts ever.
