I've always wanted to be a part of a book club because I love discussing books in-depth. Which I realized I can't really do on my blog because I can't put spoilers on my reviews. That's why only my friends who've read the same book as me end up knowing my complete thoughts on books. And that's a bummer! I want to discuss with more people!
So why not host my own book club, right? Thus, the Back to Backlist Book Club was born. *trumpetssssssssss*
First, thanks to Miel of Bookish and Awesome for the wonderful name! I didn't know what to call thy book club and Dianne's Book Club seemed like a very conceited name, don't you think? Then the idea of reading backlist titles, WHICH I'VE BEEN WANTING TO DO FOR SO LONG, came to me and TA-DA! I mean, let's all read these backlisted titles and give them some love! As book bloggers, we're all so entrenched to look for the upcoming titles, add to the hype, and all that. And it's all so fast! I mean, I know A LOT of books are being published every year but we forget and move on so fast!
Moreover, this might also be an avenue for me to finally read books that everyone seems to have read except me. I'm sure there are A LOT of people out there too in the same boat as yours truly and LET US BAND TOGETHER AND READ TOGETHER!
First, I need to define a backlist title. The novel must be published at least two years before. So any book published on or before 2013 is fair game, y'all.
Since this is our first read, I will be acting as an overlord for now. MWAHAHA I have picked ten books you can choose from. These are all contemporary books and we can change themes/genres every month.
Please pick as many as you'd like. On July 28 7PM Philippine time, I'll check which book has the most votes and that's what we'll read!
*The first > is vote and the second > is the results button. They're not showing!
Which book would you like #BTBBC to read this August?
This is a pretty chill and low pressure book club. I won't attack you with a pitchfork if you don't join because the book you wanted wasn't picked or if you end up not reading the book at all. (You might even be the one to push me to read the book for the month!)
We start on August 1 (Saturday) and end reading on August 25 (Tuesday). Read at your own pace. If you want to read just a couple of pages a day, great! If you want to binge it and cram it, great! On August 26 (Wednesday), we discuss! I'm thinking of having the discussion on Twitter or maybe Google Hangouts (which I still have to try). How's 8AM EST/8PM Philippine time?
Of course, we can discuss the chosen book by using #BTBBC on Twitter. ANYTIME. Please use the hashtag if you want other people (aka yours truly) to know you're participating (I LOVE YOU) and if you need someone to talk to. For those wary of spoilers, you might want to wait for the final discussion. I will be checking the hashtag and get you to talk to me, people.
If you have any suggestions and/or violent reactions, feel free to hit me up below at the comments section or tweet me at @oopsireadagain or email me or send me a snail mail. I am not 100% sure on what I'm doing and I need all the help I can have.
I certainly hope you'll join me!
P.S. If you voted and you want to join, please fill up this form so I can inform you when a title has been chosen!

ReplyDeleteThis might be my most-awaited comeback. Haha! Just wait, books!
YAAAAAAAS YAAAAAAS YAAAAAAS!!
ReplyDeleteMy friend and I also have a book club we call No Love in this Club, where we read romance novels hahaha. We started with Gone with the Wind for June, then this July it was Les Miserables. For August, we're doing Portrait of a Lady.
ReplyDeleteIt's not a classics book club, but so far we've been choosing classics haha idk why.
Yayyyy!!! :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely in, Dianne!! 😄
