June Recap

I emerged victorious! Kinda. My blog did not suffer this June, well, at least for the first half of June. The second half was *kruu kruu*. (Blame my TV shows and my ukulele!) I wasn't able to post the 12 reviews I targeted to compensate for the severe lack of reviews last May. WHATEVER, I DO NOT WANT TO DWELL ON MY FAILURE. Let us revel because of my victories and one of those is MEETING LEIGH BARDUGO IN PERSON AND GETTING MY BABIES BOOKS (BUT BASICALLY THEY'RE MY BABIES) SIGNED!!!!!

Cold Cold Man by Saint Motel

GUYS. I'm so obsessed with this song. I think I've listened to it for one whole week straight then I couldn't help myself and shared it to EVERYONE I know who believes in my ~music tastes~. Haha! This is such a feel-good song and the video is cute and fun. SERIOUSLY. If you haven't heard of Saint Motel, DO SO NOW. You wouldn't be able to stop yourself from dancing. (I'm so obsessed with it I had to learn it in my uke!)

Suicide Saturday by Hippo Campus

Hello, my new it band!! These guys are so young but they're so talented! They sound so good even live and I just can't handle the cuteness! Too bad they're all younger than me and I don't get crushes on guys younger than me. I have a little brother! (Except for Ansel Elgort because he is an exception.) Anyway, I'm speaking in tangents. I'm so happy the music video for this track was released this month because Suicide Saturday is my favorite from their Bashful Creatures EP. This band is opening for Walk the Moon (Saint Motel is too, that's how I discovered both.) and just I APPROVE. I ADORE.

I Of The Storm by Of Monsters and Men

Nanna's voice is positively divine. How can this band sound so great AND EVEN BETTER live than the album version? HOW? It's so improbable but geez, THIS SONG. I got so addicted to this I also learned it in my uke.

Where Are U Now (Skrillex, Diplo, Justin Bieber Cover) by Rixton

I won't even deny it. I don't diss Justin Bieber because I like his songs. WHAT? I like pop. But Rixton's take on this is so good and soulful. Jake's voice is just AAAAHHH. I always love their covers (Ignition Remix LISTEN TO THAT PRONTO) and this is no different.

Beautiful Words by Oscar

Oscar just released his Beautiful Words EP last week and it's been on repeat when I just need to chill. I love his unaffected and quite lazy-sounding singing style.

I AM OBSESSED. All thanks to Charlie and Miguel for recommending this one and leaving me bereft of thinking space for anything else. And to Inah for spazzing with me on Twitter EVERY SINGLE TIME. I COULDN'T THINK OF ANYTHING ELSE. I HOPE IT GETS RENEWED BECAUSE MY SHIPPY HEART.

I watched a total of three films this month. I like James Wan's films so of course I watched Insidious 3. And I'm that person who never grew out of Doraemon and collects it so Stand By Me Doraemon. <3

I also watched Diplomatie with Sab at the 2015 French Film Festival and it was so good!

How did your June go? Any film, TV, or music recommendations? More importantly, what great books did you read this month?

By the way, this is an awards-free blog. I appreciate it though, really. :D
