How I Organize My Ebooks

Soooooo, I have tons of ideas for discussion posts but I've never really posted one for various reasons in a nifty list*:

1. Everyone is doing their own discussion posts and my topics aren't exactly new so no one would care.
2. I'm sure people have already said what I'd like to say so no one would care.
3. I'm lazy and I couldn't care about actually writing them.

I wouldn't have even started this post if I wasn't in the laboratory today at 1PM trying to keep my eyes open. Seriously, science involves tons of waiting. Really. A lot. I guess that's why I'm not THAT patient because I channel all my patience to my experiments but never in other aspects of my life. Ugh, here I go again speaking in tangents.

So today, I'll be sharing how I organize my ebooks. Why is this pertinent, you might ask?

1. I'm a hoarder of eARCs. Ick. NetGalley and Edelweiss are my downfall. If ever people from the future found my remains, I'd be figuratively drowning in eARCs...
2. If you hoard 'em like I do, you might be interested!
3. I'm a mood reader and I've tried, lord I've tried, but I can never follow a reading schedule. Ever. And I think my system allows me enough breathing room to read whatever I want WHILE still following a bit of a reading schedule.

So without further ado, here are some pictures**!

As you can see, I organize my eARCs by the month of their publication! I make a collection per month and then I put the eARCs I get into their respective folders. With this, I have enough "freedom" about what I read while still being "restricted" by my blogger duties.

(And yes, my Kindle's name is Adrien bb.)

Let's look into one of the collections!

So for example, here's my December TBR. I have 12 titles in there (I specifically chose that instead of the collections with 40+ in them...) and here are just four of them. I looked into them this morning (yes, at 3AM) and I actually decided to read Top Ten Clues You're Clueless. Now, while I restrict myself into reading from this pile, I can still choose among several titles. With that, I feel like I'm still control of what I read. I'm sure there is a psychological term to what I'm doing to myself...

Now, you've seen in the first picture that I have a collection named Purchased/Won. It's pretty self-descriptive in that I put everything I bought and I won there. So far, it has 290+ items and when I feel like reading FOR MYSELF (aka no obligation to review or whatever), I just choose from the gazillion items in there.

I've already read Wild and I'm planning to read something I bought a few months ago soon. How soon is that? I don't know.

    3. I can't think of anything at the moment! It takes some time especially if you have tons of eARCs and you'd have to check their release dates but once the system is up, it's so easy to continue. :)

  3. I seriously need to do this. Whenever I look at my Kindle, everything's just there on the carousel. I have no clue when ARCs are scheduled because I'm super behind and don't have a blogger calendar ready, either!

    First step: organize books into months per your example. That will get me moving. :)

    1. It'd take a long time, Lisa, but it's worth it! I remember spending the whole night organizing mine back then because everything was just there too. But once you've set it all up, it's SO much easier and neat and pretty in the eyes too. Good luck and thanks for dropping by!
