Darker Days (The Darker Agency, #1)
Title: Darker Days (The Darker Agency #1)
Author: Jus Accardo
Publisher: Entangled Publishing
Date of Publication: August 26, 2013

Jessie Darker goes to high school during the day, but at night she helps with the family investigation business. Cheating husbands and stolen inheritances? They’re your girls—but their specialty is a bit darker. Zombie in your garage? Pesky Poltergeist living in your pool? They’ll have the problem solved in a magical minute. For a nominal fee, of course...

When gorgeous new client, Lukas Scott, saunters into the office requesting their help to find a stolen box, it sounds like a simple case—until the truth comes out. The box is full of Sin.

Seven deadly ones, in fact.

They’ve got five days to recapture the Sins before they're recalled by the box, taking seven hijacked human bodies with them. Easy peasy—except for one thing...

There’s a spell that will allow the Sins to remain free, causing chaos forever. When the key ingredient threatens the life of someone she knows, Jessie must make the ultimate choice between love and family—or lose everything.

I asked Jessie Darker what are her three least favorite parts of her family's business and here's her answer!

There's really no other way I'd rather spend my free time than helping Mom with The Darker Agency. Well, I mean, other than maybe kissing a certain sinful boy… *ahem* So, yeah. I was saying I loved my job, but that doesn't mean there aren't parts that don't suck. Everyone's all about being a Monster Masher these days, and I gotta tell you, it's not all fun and games. To do what we do, you have to have high tolerance for ** and a really strong stomach…

Here are three of my least favorite parts of Monster Mashing…

1. Fluids. Yeah. You read that right. Fluids. Gross, I know, but definitely my number one issue. The spit, shit and gore that comes with this job will kill an appetite and destroy your wardrobe. Ever have a demon dog pee on you? No? Trust me when I say, you should keep it that way. What doesn't eat straight through your clothes and start going to town on your skin will stain. In some cases, permanently.

2. The noise. Think the things that go bump and tumble in the night go gently into the great beyond? Um, no. They fight, they thrash, and they scream. Or, in the case of a Banshee, sing. Mom swears the noise they make is a war cry, but to me it sounds like a herd of dying cattle pulling choir practice to the tune of nails against a chalkboard. Stock up on Advil. Just sayin…

3. The smell. This isn't the kind of thing you can fix with Febreze and Lysol. Think tuna salad seasoned with skunk sauce baking to perfection and on the dash of your car for a week. Not convinced? Try rotten fish. Spoiled milk. Wet dog. Okay, well that last one was a personal issue, but you get my point. Monster Mashing is no afternoon at Bath and Body Works. I didn't get clear of an exploding Dirt Demon last year. It was the night before the first day of school. I smelled like a dumpster for a week…
