Waiting on Wednesday (6): Letters to Nowhere by Julie Cross

Wednesday, June 12, 2013

I haven't done WoW in such a long time but this is pretty eventful. Just this week, Julie Cross, yes, the author of Tempest and Vortex and the author I LOVE SO SO SO MUCH, is self-publishing a mature sports YA novel in August! To read more on her news, check out her announcement! So of course, I CAN'T FREAKIN' WAIT FOR THIS BOOK! Check out the blurb below!

Letters To Nowhere
Title: Letters to Nowhere
Author: Julie Cross
Date of Publication: August 1, 2013

From the International Bestselling Author of the Tempest series

A Mature YA contemporary set in the tough world of Elite Gymnastics. Grief, love and pursuing dreams are at the forefront of this emotionally powerful coming-of-age story.

Seventeen year old Karen Campbell has just lost both her parents in a tragic car accident. Grief stricken and alone, her gymnastics coach opens his home to Karen, providing her a place to live while she continues to train, working toward a spot on the world championship team.

Coach Bentley’s only child, seventeen year old Jordan is good-looking and charming enough to scare away a girl like Karen—someone who has spent ten times more hours on balance beams and uneven bars than talking or even thinking about boys. But the two teens share a special connection almost immediately. It turns out Jordan has a tragic past of his own, grief buried for years.

As Karen’s gymnastics career soars, her nightmares and visions of the horrible accident grow in strength. She can only avoid facing her grief for so long before it begins to surface and ultimately spin out of control in a very dangerous way. Can discovering love and lust (simultaneously) help with the grieving process or will it only provide a temporary distraction while waiting for reality to hit full force.

Why do I want to read this NOW? Sports YA! Julie Cross! Gymnastics! Mature YA! Contemporary! I NEED THIS NOW JULIE!

  1. I still haven't read her other books. But you seem to love them, so I'd definitely give them a try. Aaand I agree with the sports YA thing. I don't like sports but I have a soft spot for them in books. :D

    Here's my Wednesday post.

  3. Julie Cross is writing another book?! Too bad the guy on the cover isn't the guy from Tempest. ):
He was kind of hot. ;D
Awesome pick Dianne & thanks for stopping by my WoW! (:

    1. Kelly! I know! Mark Perini (that's his name) would have been perfect and kind of funny. He's starting to become THE YA male model. Haha! Thanks for dropping by my WoW too, Kelly! <3

  4. Great pick! I'm looking forward to this one as well. :) I really loved Julie Cross's Tempest though I never got around to finally buying Vortex. I'm definitely going to have to soon!

    Krystianna @ Downright Dystopian

    1. I haven't read Vortex as well! We need to! Book 3 will be out January 2014! Thanks for dropping by, Krystianna! :)

  5. Yay! So this was the book you were telling me about! Grief and love? I think I'm in. I feel this intense desire to read more NA reads this year! Maybe it's because of our age. Haha!

Here's my Waiting on Wednesday post.

    1. Yes, this is the book I was telling you about! I totally understand and agree with you. NA feels closer to home with the age but I still think YA themes resonate with me more. Or that there isn't much diversity in NA yet. Thanks for dropping by, Precious!
